We have an interesting situation with transport and destination for human presence on the low Earth orbit.
We have space stations since 1970-s, and manned spacecrafts since 1960-s, and yet by 2000 for such a large project as ISS we had just Soyuz and Shuttle. Yes, we planned to have something else, and something newer - but only in 2020 we got Crew Dragon flight to ISS, some 9 years after the last flight of the Space Shuttle. If we don't count the Chinese program, we still only have two manned spacecrafts, from two very different countries and space engineering schools. We also had a flight of Starliner, which got two persons to ISS, but was deemed not safe enough to return them back to Earth. We had some other manned spacecrafts, which reached the phase of flying, but never flew with people - Buran and TKS com to mind, as well as much more recent Orion. There is also hope that Dream Chaser will eventually get to the manned stage. But, as Robert Bigelow mentioned, there are not enough means to get people to space stations.
And yet in a recent interview with Peter Beck, the head of Rocket Lab talked about their "not a capsule announcement" - a slide with a picture of a capsule spacecraft in one of their presentations - and said that there is just one destination to fly people to in space. The ISS, that is. And he's correct - and this really reminds us the philosophical question of primality of chicken versus egg. Should we build more stations to encourage building more spacecrafts? Should we build more spacecrafts to encourage building more space stations? Peter continued that he thinks the situation may change soon - so they may come back to the question of the spacecraft. But at the moment we have this situation of single destination - ISS, and two spacecrafts - Soyuz and Crew Dragon.
Peter is likely correct that we'll have more destinations soon - there are several projects to build space stations. Will we have Starliner, Dream Chaser, Rocket Lab's spacecrafts encouraged to fly often? We'll probably see in a few years.
